We are very excited to continue with our Planet Peace bullying prevention program. Over the past four years, Mars Area Centennial School faculty, staff, students, and parents have worked to develop a school-wide bully prevention plan to assist in changing our school culture and ultimately reduce bullying behaviors. Mars Area Centennial School bully prevention program, Planet Peace, is modeled after the Olweus Bully Prevention Program, an internationally research-based program.

 

The program creates opportunities for students to meet with teachers in small groups during classroom meetings to discuss bullying situations and learn strategies to reduce bullying incidents. As part of the anti-bullying commitment, Mars Area Centennial School has adopted five rules against bullying:

 

1. WE WILL not bully others.
2. WE WILL help students who are bullied.
3. WE WILL include students who are left out.
4. WE WILL tell an adult when someone is being bullied.
