Mars Area School District will hold an ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuation) Assembly for fifth-graders at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Mars Area Centennial School.
Police officers from Adam Township Police and Middlesex Township Police departments will discuss how teachers and students can react decisively in the event of an “active shooter” or other potentially life-threatening situation. Students will be reminded of what may be expected of them in the event of a building lockdown or evacuation.
All Mars Area School District administrators, teachers and staff members have previously participated in similar ALICE trainings and other school safety programs, which were developed through the cooperation of District officials and local first responders. All information included in the training programs reflects the District’s procedures for responding to a variety of emergency situations.
