Members of the Pittsburgh Penguins will visit Mars Area Centennial School on Monday, Oct. 1, as part of the school’s participation in the EVERFI “Future Goals” program.

Several Penguins players and the team’s mascot, Iceburgh, will be working alongside students in their STEAM classes. At 2 p.m., a school-wide assembly will include a question and answer session, a hockey skills demonstration, and a game of floor hockey.

In their STEAM classes, fifth- and sixth-graders are using the EVERFI “Future Goals” online program to learn about the many STEM-related careers available within a professional hockey organization. The program enables students to practice their mathematics and science skills through real-world applications.

The program is offered in partnership with the National Hockey League (NHL), National Hockey League Players Association (NHLPA), and the EVERFI education technology company. For more information, visit https://everfi.com.
