Mars Area School District will hold a “Go Gold for Ford” Fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 11, to benefit the family of 3-year-old Ford Bartle, who was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Nueroblastoma.

Ford is currently undergoing aggressive treatment at a cancer center in New York. His parents, Bobby and Carly Bartle, have entrusted their four other children — Camryn, a first-grader at Mars Area Primary Center; 4-year-old Kendall and, twin 9-month-old boys, Grant and Hayes — to family members and friends while they remain with Ford during his treatment.

As part of the fundraiser, all students (Grades K-12) are encouraged to wear gold on Friday, Oct. 11, and may also make a freewill donation to the cause if they choose to do so. District staff members have been asked to contribute a minimum of $5 to wear jeans and gold colors to school.

In addition, the District will continue the “Go Gold for Ford” fundraiser at the Fightin’ Planets Varsity Football Team’s home game against the Fox Chapel Foxes at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11. Those attending the game are asked to wear gold and to donate to the cause.
