Student Recreate Mona Lisa Using Rubik’s Cubes

Several Mars Area Centennial School students recently completed a recreation of the painting, the Mona Lisa, made out of Rubik’s Cubes.

The students have been working throughout the school year to try and solve the 3-D combination puzzles, says April Whorf, gifted support teacher. Using that problem-solving knowledge, the students worked from a template, solving one side of each Rubik’s Cube to match each section of the 10-by-10-cube mosaic.

Students who worked on the project included sixth-graders Ryan Babeo, Kendall Bruns, Lily Coupland, Carson Mahan, Patrick Miko, Addie Nailler, Natasha Narasimhan, Julia Nassif, Ella Nicotra, Natalie Paramalingam, Derek Piatek and Dylan Weitzell; and, fifth-graders Sarah Arnold, Julian Coquelet, Alexa Everhart, Ava Girdwood, Landon Hartman, Levi Jackson, Naveen Jayaraman, Colby Kohnen, Gracie McCarty, Aidyn Mead, Olivia Miller, Connor Summit, Eli Thoman, Clarke Wickland and Bryce Zatchey.
