Mahan’s story was among 27 selected from almost 700 entries submitted by students in Grades K-5 at schools in Delaware, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. She was one four fifth-graders selected as a contest finalist.
All finalists’ stories will be posted on the WQED’s Writers Contest page at www.writeonkids.org. The public will be invited to vote for the “Reader’s Choice Winner,” Thursday, June 17, through Thursday, June 24.
Winners will be announced at an upcoming virtual celebration and will have the opportunity to record their winning story for broadcast on http://iQKidsRadio.org and featured on Saturday Light Brigade (SLB) Radio.
