Mars Area Centennial School raised $1,383.25 to benefit local families in need as part of the school’s “Deck Your Door” Contest & Fundraiser, held Dec. 1-20.

As part of the contest, fifth- and sixth-graders decorated their classroom doors with various holiday themes. Students in each classroom were then asked to make a donation to the cause.

Debra Kravets’s fifth grade classroom raised the highest amount ($337.65), earning a special lunch and movie time on Dec. 21. Other top fundraisers included Alyssa Fertig and William Sepich’s fifth grade classes and Melinda Badger, Jennifer Bradel and Michelle Weston’s sixth grade classes.
