Mars Area School District collected $8,400 to benefit Susan G. Komen Foundation as part of an annual Pink Out & “Hats for Heroes” fundraiser, held Oct. 13.

Mars Area Primary Center brought in $1,611.17; Mars Area Elementary School, $2,276.30; Mars Area Centennial School, $585.24; Mars Area Middle School, $816.29; and Mars Area High School; $12. The District also collected $3,900 in online donations.

All District students (K-12) were asked to make a donation in return for the opportunity to wear a hat in school. In addition, all students and staff members were encouraged to wear pink as part of a District-wide “Pink Out” to raise awareness for the cause.
