Mars Area Centennial School held its 2023 Science Fair on March 9.
Fifth-graders Chloe Kivlan and Brooklyn Lasch received the Marie Curie Award for Best Oral Presentation for their project, “Oreo — Float or Sink;” sixth-graders Lilliana Elliott and Alexis Harrington, Galileo Award for Most Creative Topic for their project, “Disciplines of Maria Sklodowska;” sixth-grader Katherine Kazanov, Sir Isaac Newton Award for Most Scientific Project for her project, “How Does the Concentration of a Solution Affect the Cell;” and sixth-grader Elizabeth Shaha, Albert Einstein Award for Best Overall Project for her project, “Resting Rainbow.”
First through third place ribbons will also awarded. The goal of the annual event, sponsored by Mars Area Elementary PTO, is to stimulate imagination and independent thinking; increase students’ knowledge in a variety of scientific areas; teach the use of the scientific process; train students in organization and major task completion; and provide an opportunity to enjoy science.
