Sixth-graders in Mars Area Centennial School’s STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Mathematics) classes are building and launching bottle rockets as part of a special project focused on rocket science.
After learning about how modern space rockets function, the students were challenged to design and build model rockets, using empty two-liter bottles and other recycled materials, The goal of the project is to build a rocket that could stay aloft the longest and return safely to the ground.
At the conclusion of the project, each student team tested their designs, by pumping 50 psi of air into their bottle rockets and watched as their creations launched into the sky.
