Two Mars Girls Youth Basketball Association teams placed in recent Turkey Shootout Tournaments.

The Fourth Grade Girls Gold Travel Basketball Team earned first place in the New Castle Turkey Shootout Tournament (Nov. 19) and will advance to the Pennsylvania Middle School Basketball Championship, to be held in March 20-22 in State College, Pa.

Team members include Mars Area Elementary School fourth-graders Reagan Anke, Samantha Beckert, Cayley Chaffee, Avery Cooper, Lila Demetris, Ariana Guerrieri, Amelia Lavrinc, Hailey Rodgers and Nora Wiley.

The Sixth Grade Girls Gold Basketball Team took second place in the St. Gregory’s Cold Turkey Shootout Tournament (Nov. 19).

Team members include Mars Area Centennial School sixth-graders Olivia Ando, Elisia DePaoli, Alexandra Franck, Quinn Lavrinc, Mia LeBlanc, Allison Pyle, Sophia Rodgers, Ashley Vingle and Janaya Williams-Gaiser. Olivia Ando was named MVP Player of the Tournament for her team.
