Mars Girls Youth Basketball Association’s Sixth Grade Gold Team earned first place in the Sixth Grade Girls Division of the Lawrence County Youth Basketball League (LCDBL) Turkey Shootout 2024, held Nov. 16-17 at New Castle High School.

The team defeated Ellwood 50-6 in the tournament quarterfinals; Boardman 15-8 in the semifinals; and Cranberry 33-19 in the final game. Team members include Mars Area Centennial School sixth-graders Alyssa Day, Emma Eriksen, Gia Ginocchi, Addison Hainan, Sienna Reilly, Avi Rocco, Talia Sanata, Addison Schaerer and Kate Sherwin.
