Several Mars Area School District students competed in the Academic Games League of America (AGLOA) Equations academic competition, held Feb. 5 at Slippery Rock University.
Sixth-grader Kristin Sadhu went undefeated in the competition. The team of sixth-graders Reese Carrel, Noah Fecich, Kristin Sadhu, Hannah Nam, and Benen Pears placed sixth out of 58 teams.
Other participants included sixth-graders Ellie Kurnocik, Seth Pedicone, Alison White and Chaarvi Yogesh; fifth-graders Jack Baumgartel, Cayley Chaffee, Alexander Chernykh, Lila Demetris, Asher Detore, Lucy Harrison, Bennett Kreit, Landon Lewis, Ashrith Muppala, Laura Spaulding, Adalyn Stuber and Maximus Veneziano; fourth-graders Luke Fecich, Jessica Li, Jane Lyons, Eleanor McCauley, Everly Northrop, Angelo Navari, Pranshu Thakkar and Charlie Xuan; and third-graders Brady Gaab, Carly Gibson, Winnie Hawk, Kiya Kier, Avery Kreit, River Lint, Oscar Mulvaney, Dexton Sinetar, Edison Thiry and Juliette Wagner.
Equations is a game of creative mathematics that challenges players to apply their knowledge and ability and to develop new skills. The annual competition is open to students in Grades 4-12 at Butler, Lawrence and Mercer county schools.
