Several members of Mars Youth Wrestling placed in the Keystone State Youth Northwest Regional Qualifier, held Feb. 19&23 in Erie, Pa.
In the 12U competition, sixth-grader Alex Carson (80) received seventh place in the 80-pound weight class. In the 10U competition, fifth-grader Hayden Hazi (65) earned first place; fourth-grader Dane Bova (75), second place; fifth-grader Blake Wilson (120) and fourth-graders Jackson Swackhammer (60) and Rex Watenpool (75), fourth place; third-grader Walter Covert (70), fifth place; second-grader Beckett Bova (55) seventh place; and fourth-grader Jack Miller (70), seventh place, in their respective weight classes.
Second-graders Holden Hazi (50) and Chase Barkley (60) took second and sixth place, respectively, in the 8U competition; and, kindergarten Layton Swick (61) took fourth place in the 6U competition. In the girls competition, fourth-grader Charlie Vargo earned first place; first-grader Shane Miller took third place; and sixth-grader Bennie Vargo received fourth place.
All of the wrestlers qualified for the 2025 Keystone State Championships, to be held March 14-16 at Penn State University’s Bryce Jordan Center.
