Science Fair Award Winners Announced

Mars Area Centennial School held its 2025 Science Fair on March 12.

Sixth-graders Isla Cuddyre and Gwenhwyfar Jones received the Best Overall Project award for their project “Clean Sweep: A Scientific Study on Makeup Brush Cleaners.” Fifth-grader Sofia Airgood and sixth-graders Gavin Miller and Dominic Cooper tied for the Best Oral Presentation award for their respective projects, “Health Energy” and “Singing Acids vs. Bases.”

Sixth-graders Pheobe Canale and Qian Feng were selected for the Most Creative Idea award for “The Ames Illusion.” Sixth-grader Kristin Sadhu received the Most Scientific Idea award for “Pushing Your Buttons.”

Other participants included sixth-graders Joey Ambrose and Antonio Trombulak; Aubrey Brown and Lily Stephans; Giuseppe Burello and Nina Szudera; Grace Dolny and Elliot Lumley; Noah Fecich and Seth Pedicone; Ariana Grusca and Sienna Reilly; Saylor Hoder; Dagny Immel; Alexander Konitzky; and Sloane Plutko; fifth-graders Brynn Balmert and Makaela Butler; Harper Gunst and Nadya Ignatuk; Lucy Harrison; Lyneska Heymann; Jackson Hurbanek; Claire Kassi and Penny Lindemann; Neha Maddala; Constance Miller and Anna Kramer; Zakk Schmidt; Hadley Sichler; Gautham Tumati; Madden Westrick; and the group of sixth-grader Saivarun Mudiya and fifth-grader Ashrith Muppala.

The goal of the annual event, sponsored by Mars Area Elementary PTO, is to stimulate imagination and independent thinking; increase students’ knowledge in a variety of scientific areas; teach the use of the scientific process; train students in organization and major task completion; and provide an opportunity to enjoy science.
