Sixth-grader Earns Gold Metal in Drive, Chip & Putt National Finals

Tom Watson and Caris HartmanMars Area Centennial School sixth-grader Caris Hartman took first place in the Chip competition at the 2025 Drive, Chip & Putt National Finals, held April 6 at Augusta National Golf Club (Augusta, Ga.).

In the Girls 10-11 Division, Hartman chipped the ball for a combined distance of 2 feet, 5 inches from the hole in two attempts. In addition, she tied for sixth place overall in the nation with a total score of 15 points in the Drive, Chip and Putt skill areas.

Hartman was presented with her gold medal by two-time Masters Champion Tom Watson; and Condoleezza Rice, former U.S. Secretary of State, shook her hand after her final putt on the 18th green

She advanced to the National Finals after taking first place in the in the Girls 10-11 Division of the Drive, Chip & Putt Mid-Atlantic Regional Qualifier in September 2024. For more information, visit www.drivechipandputt.com/leaderboard.
