Mars Area Centennial School held its 2026 Science Fair on March 10.
Sixth-graders Alex Chernkyh and Max Veneziano earned the Best Overall Project for their project “Power from the Air: Building a Homemade Wind Turbine.”
Sixth-grader Damon Fedorchak received the Best Oral Presentation award for his project, “Ready, Set React: The Effect of Emotion on Reaction Time.” Fifth-graders Nicole Hardgrove and Harper Jones were selected for the Most Creative Topic award for “Mirror, Mirror in the Tank: Testing Aggression in Male Beta Fish.”
Sixth-graders Elise Dickson and Emma Kelly received the Most Enthusiastic award for their project, “Moisture Magic… Which Moisturizing Lotion Works the Best.” Sixth-grader Addison Tucci received the Most Scientific Project award for “Can You Slow the Molding Process of Bread and Does It Vary Based on What You Use?”
Other participants included sixth-graders Caroline Breese and Savannah Keller, Jaxson Briere and Maddox Munshower, Hannah Craver and Lyneska Heymann, Mara Dean and Maddi Gaston, Asher Detore and Bennett Kreit, Ava Hayes and Monroe Mager, Claire Kassi and Penny Lindemann, Audrina Lampasi and Meyer Mager, Charlee McMurtie and Ariana Guerrieri, Alexander Whitling, and Jackson Sealover; and, fifth-graders Lucy Bajuszik and Hadley Fonzie, Averie Baker, Elizabeth Desmond and Jolene Eisenhauer, Stella DiGioia and Kylin Midget, Kendal Fonzi and Olivia Leto, Caroline Kowatch, Mason Hewitt and Blake Minman, and Shanvitha Surath.
The goal of the annual event, sponsored by Mars Area Elementary PTO, is to stimulate imagination and independent thinking; increase students’ knowledge in a variety of scientific areas; teach the use of the scientific process; train students in organization and major task completion; and provide an opportunity to enjoy science.
