Mars Area Centennial School sixth-grader Mackenzie Schnur took first place at the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Eastern Region Auditions, held March 6-8 at Susquehanna University.
Schnur took her first place win in the Commercial Music category in her age group (Grades 6-8). She will advance to the National NATS Competition, to be held July 3-7 in San Antonio, Texas.
At the regional competition, participants have an opportunity to perform; experience singers across many age groups; and attend educational events, including master classes with professional musicians. The event brings together student vocalists from New York, Delaware, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Quebec.
