Mars Area Centennial School collected $1,672.04 through PBIS “Pie in the Face” fundraiser, held April 13-17.
Fifth- and sixth-graders were asked to drop donations in containers with the names of the school’s teachers. The five teachers with the most donations — Kassandra Byrnes, Chris Dalesandro, Justin Hartzell, Dr. Tammy Mitchell and Lauren Piper — were announced at a school-wide assembly on April 24 and were promptly “pied.”
In addition, the school held a live drawing to announce the name of a sixth teacher/staff member, who would be pied. Megan Mezzio, school counselor, earned the most votes.
Proceeds from the event, sponsored by the school’s PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports) program, will benefit Butler County Humane Society as well as be used to purchase new equipment for the school’s playground.
