Fifth-graders in Karen Banze and Dana Fenio’s classes at Mars Area Centennial School created a rock garden to celebrate their uniqueness and individuality.
In class, the students read the book, “Only One You” by Linda Kranz (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbqkNSkqQPs), which offers advice for how to make the world a better place, such as “Blend in when you need to. Stand out when you have the chance” and “Find your own way. You don’t have to follow the crowd.” The students discussed the messages in the book, analyzed the artwork, and created their own unique rocks to represent themselves.
The rocks along with positive messages were added to a rock garden, placed near the school’s Parent Pick-up Entrance. For more information, call(724) 625-2601.
