PTO Contest Brings in More Than 74,509 Box Tops

Mars Area Elementary PTO collected more that 74,509 Box Tops as part of its 2017 Box Tops for Education Contest, held Sept. 18-Oct. 13, at Mars Area Primary Center, Mars Area Elementary School and Mars Area Centennial School. 

The classrooms in each grade level with the highest number of BoxTops collected are Kim Schuelke’s PM kindergarten class (815), Cami Shuck’s first grade class (4,475), Angela Wagner’s second grade class (4,614), Cetta Richard’s third grade class (1,591), Marilyn Lapiska’s fourth grade class (2,068), Karen Banze’s fifth grade class (1,895), and Megan Balawejder’s sixth grade class (1,633).

Students in the winning classrooms at Mars Area Primary Center and Mars Area Centennial School will each receive a gift certificate for the PTO’s upcoming Holiday Store. At Mars Area Elementary School, students in the winning classrooms will receive a gift certificate to the PTO’s Scholastic Book Fair at the school.

As part of the contest, students in kindergarten through sixth grade were asked to bring in Box Top coupons found on General Mills brand products. The Box Tops were sent to Box Tops for Education, which will make a payment to the schools based on the number of Box Tops collected.
