Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),
This letter is to inform you that Adams Township Police and Mars Area School District officials have thoroughly investigated rumors affecting school safety at Mars Area Centennial School and have deemed that the rumors hold no merit.
The rumors stem from a report that a shooting was to take place at Mars Area Centennial School on Wednesday, Jan. 2. Upon becoming aware of this report, Adams Township Police, working with District officials, immediately investigated and found the threat to be “non-credible.”
As a precautionary measure, Mars Area Centennial School will have an increased police presence on Wednesday, Jan. 2, when student and staff members return to school after Winter Break.
Mars Area School District is grateful to our local police and other law enforcement personnel for their continued support of the District’s efforts to ensure a safe and secure educational environment for our students, faculty and staff members. And, we thank you for your patience and cooperation as well.
Sincerely,
Dr. Wesley W. Shipley
Superintendent
