Several Mars Area students were part of a team of performers from Jeter Backyard Theater (Treesdale) who participated in the Junior Theater Festival, held Jan. 18-20 in Atlanta, Ga.
The team, which included sophomore Carly Kern, Janie Hodder, Eleanor Howell, Aria Ramanathan and Lauren Spindler; freshmen Meghan McKenzie and Tori Speranza; eighth-grader Frances Huffman; seventh-grader Mira Ramanathan; fifth-grader Lacey Kern; fourth-grader Mei Lien Mansfield and Jace Scarito, closed the festival’s New Works Showcase with songs from Disney’s Frozen Jr., a new title to the Broadway Junior Collection.
Jeter Backyard Theater was asked to pilot Frozen Jr. in Summer 2018 and was selected to present the musical at the Junior Theater Festival. Team members began rehearsing for the performance in late November.
The Junior Theater Festival brings together more than 6,500 musical theater youth from Australia, Canada, China, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States. The annual event offers adjudications, workshops and special events where performers may share their talents.
